Individual Therapy

Dr. Levenson is a Clinical Health Psychologist with expertise and specialized interest in maternal mental health. She specializes in individual therapy with women throughout the perinatal period, from pre-pregnancy to early parenthood. Psychotherapy may center on issues such as fertility/infertility, anxiety and depression, pregnancy loss, co-parenting, adjustment to parenthood, and work-life balance. Utilizing specialized knowledge and training in both pregnancy and the IVF process, Dr. Levenson offers support and assistance with decision making every step of the way. During the period of new parenthood, we will work together on identifying your priorities, coping with ups and downs in mood, managing stressors, setting boundaries with friends and family, and finding yourself as a parent.

Dr. Levenson also provides psychotherapy to a wider group of clientele. Fluent in many models of individual therapy, including psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy. Most importantly, treatment is person-centered, meaning we will construct together a plan to address your specifically goals.

The therapeutic approach involves giving you space to discover yourself, build self-esteem, and feel empowered, while challenging you to try new ways of thinking, behaving and relating to others. Therapy is active and sometimes challenging, with ongoing supportive feedback. I believe this personalized constructive feedback can help you make meaningful change so as to achieve more satisfaction in your life. From the outset, I want to be sure we are a good fit. You should feel able to communicate with me openly and honestly. Once we decide to begin therapy, we will agree upon a regular weekly appointment time that works for you.
